Introducing Sequoia Elementary

by Ryan Kissel, Principal

At Sequoia Elementary, Home of the Dragons, our students are learning and having fun at the same time. They are not only challenged in their classrooms, but they are also exploring other skills that tap into their interests that enhance their mind and body. For example, we have a fitness program that incorporates a running club, yoga and dance. We also have a music program that incorporates choir, band and orchestra.

In order for our students to be prepared for their future and to enter Innovation Middle School, the most advanced technology school in the district, they must be comfortable and confident using a computer to learn, create and communicate. Although most students are able to play games and utilize social network sites, many don’t have the skills to utilize the computer to help them succeed at the next level and ultimately in the workplace. That’s why our 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are taking computer classes such as Movie Design, Desk Top publishing, and Public Speaking, using Power Point.

Sequoia is a California Distinguished School, a Title I Academic School and a Family Friendly School. These 3 flags hang in our auditorium and blow in the breeze on our flag pole. We are proud to be Dragons and we continue to learn and grow as a community in order to ensure that all our children are provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead a healthy, happy life!
