There seems to be a grassroots movement to create sustainable community gardens in urban areas and the neighborhood of Clairemont is no exception! In the next 30 years, Clairemont's main arteries, like Clairemont Mesa Blvd. and Balboa Avenue are slated for in-fill development which will mean more multi-unit housing and less open space.
We are looking to identify and gain support for developing one or more sustainable community gardens within Clairemont that will be available to families who live in these areas.
Many people have mentioned that they would like to see a Farmer's Market in the neighborhood. Wouldn't a Farmer's Market be more relevant if the produce came from our own community?
If you are interested in being a part of this important movement, please join us at the Clairemont Community Planning Group meeting, which is open to the public. The meeting is at the Live Well Center 4425 Bannock Ave., on Tuesday, February 21st from 6:30-9:00PM.

If a good number of Clairemont residents who support the idea of community gardens attend this meeting, the Planning Committee will be more likely to listen and support our goal. Please leave me a message if you think you can join us at 858-274-2149 or email me at j.raggio@att.net.
