How Fostering a Fragile Animal Can Change Your Life…and Theirs!
By The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA
In Clairemont and throughout San Diego, animals are such an important part of our lives and truly are members of our families. The San Diego Humane Society provides a variety of services to our community, including the adoption of homeless animals, but rarely do we think about the fragile lives that need help before they can be adopted. Fostering an animal is one of the greatest needs at this organization, and this life-changing volunteer service doesn’t just impact the life of the animal being cared for, it also rewards the caretaker with an unforgettable experience. Here’s a recent story that demonstrates this amazing experience:
“I have been a foster mom for the San Diego Humane Society for about 5 years. Since I usually foster bottle babies, to me the most memorable moments are when they first open their eyes and ears and know that I am their mom. The bonding you have with these babies is just an incredible loving feeling. I am so blessed to be a part of it all. I also have fostered a couple litters of puppies and can’t help but fall in love with each and every one.
Being a foster mom has given me the opportunity to fulfill my passion. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to do something special with animals, just did not know what that would be until I became a foster mom.”
The San Diego Humane Society urgently needs your help to care for fragile and tiny lives as part of its Foster Care Program. Foster volunteers provide temporary shelter that can make all the difference to an animal that needs a little extra care to be ready for adoption. Cats and dogs with litters, animals under 8 weeks of age, and animals with minor, treatable illnesses are given a second chance at life through the work of Foster Care Volunteers. All supplies, medication and food are provided. All the animal needs is you! To learn more, please call the San Diego Humane Society at (619) 299-7012 or visit www.sdhumane.org .
