An armed man abandoned a robbery attempt Monday night at Crest Balboa Liquor in Clairemont, police said.
The man entered the store on Balboa Avenue near Mt. Abernathy Avenue carrying a handgun about 8:50 p.m. He apparently was scared off when a customer walked into the store, said police Officer Dino Delimitros. An employee called police about 8:50 p.m.
The gunman was described as Latino, in his 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and wearing a black hoodie and white T-shirt. He left in a gold-colored minivan, police said.
