Clairemont Town Council - August 2012

Summer Housekeeping Items

The 23 rd  Annual Clairemont Family Day is here! This event, held at the South Clairemont Recreation Center, will feature arts & crafts for the kids, carnival rides, local bands, a classic car show, as well as meet-and-greets with local candidates and community representatives.  It’s a great FREE day of fun for the whole family, and the Clairemont Town Council will have a booth there, so stop by and say, “Hi!” ( Note: Find the entire Family Day schedule on the back page of this newspaper )

At our July meeting, we discussed a few bylaw amendment changes which include a streamlined, timeline-specific process for grant submissions. As many of you may know, the CTC has given out thousands of dollars in grant funding throughout the years to beautify the community and provide for Clairemont-centric organizations.

Also, we will consider adopting an elections change that would create staggered two-year terms for our Board of Directors, creating a balance and long-term commitment to our Council’s mission and vision for Clairemont.

Finally, we will hear from Kath Rodgers, a representative from the CASE Act (Californians Against Sexual Exploitation) on the recently-numbered Proposition 35.  The Clairemont Town Council will be considering an endorsement of this initiative, which is aimed at preventing human trafficking throughout the state and making our neighborhoods safer.

Until then, we look forward to seeing you at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 2 nd . Remember this month our meeting is at Cadman Elementary, 4370 Kamloop Avenue  . Pizza, snacks, and light beverages will be provided.

Working for you, Clairemont!

Ryan Trabuco
President, Clairemont Town Council
