The students will assemble and be educated about the effects of bullying and the use of hurtful language. Each school will present a pledge hand (cut from wood and decorated in the spirit of their school) in a ceremony held in Madison’s Performing Arts Center. The decorated hands will become part of a Hands Across the Community display in Madison’s Performing Arts Center.
Students from Madison High School’s Associated Student Body (ASB), and clubs as diverse as I-Lead (bullying prevention), American Sign Language (ASL), Circle of Friends, Social Justice, Link Crew, Together Loving Christ (TLC), Robotics and AVID will host the younger students and lead them through a series of interactive activities in which they will create I Pledge materials to take back to their school to conduct their own I Pledge campaign.
I Pledge is part of Madison’s Safe Schools Initiative, funded by a grant from the California Department of Education and sponsored by Mission Federal Credit Union and the Madison High School PTSA.
