FREE This Weekend: Extraordinary Acts at 2013 Busker Festival

Street Performers entertain with free shows on San Diego’s waterfront March 23-24

Seaport Village will welcome the unthinkable from around the world at its annual Spring Busker Festival, Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24, 2013 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. The celebration brings colorful street performers from jugglers on unicycles to stilt walkers, contortionists and acrobalancers to the cobblestone streets of downtown’s Seaport Village. The extraordinary and bizarre talents at this year’s festival will provide outdoor amusement for all unlike any other festival in the region.

What Is A Busker?
A Busker is a street performer. Known for their unusual and comedic acts in Boston's Faneuil Hall or standing statue-like, painted in gold on San Francisco's Pier 39, these artists perform for tips in public venues across the globe.

San Diego's Seaport Village hosts the only Busker Festival in Southern California. We bring professionals from across the country to perform their bizarre talents from sword swallowing to knife throwing to pogo stick tricks and juggling on unicycles. Throughout the two-day festival, some of the nation's top performers fill the bay front village drawing visitors to shop, dine and enjoy an entire day of one-of-a-kind entertainment.

This year, returning for another night of unforgettable acts, Seaport Village will let the street performers loose for Buskers After Dark on Saturday, March 23 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. The untamed show will feature a DJ, food and drink specials and multiple busker acts best suited for those over 18.

Free entry. Tips will be accepted by performers.

Shops, restaurants and eateries will add to Seaport’s Spring Busker Festival flair with special sales. Guests pay $1 for the first two hours with validation in the Seaport Village lot and pay only $4 per hour thereafter. In addition, a complimentary shuttle will be provided from the Five Star parking lot on Broadway and Pacific Highway. Parking is $13 for the day and shuttles will run every 15 minutes from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The event runs March 23 and 24, 2012, from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. with Buskers After Dark on March 23 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. All shops, restaurants and eateries will be open for shopping and dining from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. While the Spring Busker Festival is free of charge, all buskers will be accepting tips.
