Highlights of this event are:
- Survivor Ceremony at 10am on Saturday June 8th, featuring a 9 year old cancer survivor. Survivors will release white doves as part of the ceremony.
- Live music throughout Saturday morning and afternoon.
- Luminaria Ceremony at 9pm on Saturday June 8th, celebrating survivorship and honoring those we have lost with luminarias that will line the track. Music will be provided by City Councilwoman Lorie Zapf’s daughter Tana Zapf, followed by a bagpiper who will play "Amazing Grace."
- Fight Back Ceremony on Sunday June 9th at 9:30am
- Last Lap on Sunday June 9th at 10am
17 Teams comprising 92 registered walkers ranging in age from 9 years young to 50+, will walk throughout the 24 hour event. Top walker last year was Russell Sorbo, 11 years young, who walked 22 miles. His goal this year is 30 miles. Russell's mom, father and 9 year old sister are cancer survivors.
More than $40,000 will be raised, all to benefit cancer research, education and support programs through the American Cancer Society.
