Congressman Scott Peters |
“Since being elected to represent San Diego in the United States House of Representatives a little over a year ago, I’ve focused my service around bringing San Diego’s culture of collaboration to Washington, D.C. Congress is broken and people are frustrated. But I’ve always said that the best ideas don’t come from Washington. This is why recently I sent out surveys and comment cards to my constituents to find out what issues and priorities are important to you," said Peters in an statement on April 21st .
"Among the great responses we received, one of the most common was that people didn’t know about the range of services my office can provide without action from Congress. We offer casework services for anyone having trouble with a federal agency, including securing your VA, Social Security, and Medicare benefits, helping you register your business or non-profit with the IRS, and obtaining lost or stolen medals for veterans. Over the past year, we’ve successfully cut through red tape to secure over $600,000 in earned benefits for my constituents.
To give you easier access to my staff and these services, I’m launching ‘Congress in your Community.’ My staff will be spending a few hours at your one of your local schools to help with any issues you’re having with federal agencies, and to take suggestions about how I can better serve the 52nd district."
Congress in Your Community will be at Cadman Elementary School (4370 Kamloop Avenue, San Diego, CA 92117) on Thursday, May 1st at 5:45 PM. Please contact Congressman Peters' office at (858) 455-5550 for more information.
As far as the IRS... WILL THERE BE SOMEONE THERE TO HELP WITH UNFILED TAXES FROM SOME YEARS BACK?
ReplyDeleteThere is someone on staff who handles casework with the IRS. Obviously without more detail they don't know if their office’s intervention is exactly what your concerns call for, but they are certainly willing to speak with you about it.
