Update From District 6: Got Budget Ideas?

Lorie Zapf
Hello Clairemont!

Spring is officially here in San Diego, and it’s time for spring events and a little “spring cleaning” at City Hall. I was honored to participate in CicloSDias at the very end of last month, and even partnered with other Councilmembers to use our office budgets to help put on the event. These events will be held periodically throughout the year in different parts of the City, and are aimed at promoting more bikeable and walkable communities. The first event was held last year in North and South Park, and the first one this year was down the hill in Pacific Beach. I’m hoping we can host one of these events in Clairemont sometime soon! For more information on CicloSDias, and to find out about the next one, you can go to http://ciclosdias.com/

Springtime at City Hall also means the start of the budget season. I will be submitting my budget requests to Mayor Faulconer in the coming weeks, and I want to hear from you on what your priorities are. Extended hours at our libraries or recreation centers? More police officers patrolling our neighborhood? Bike racks at City buildings? Adding or increasing street sweeping? These are your tax dollars, and they should be used to impact what is most important to our neighborhood. Please take a few minutes this month to email me your budget suggestions to loriezapf@sandiego.gov. I’m looking forward to working with Mayor Faulconer on a balanced budget that will improve neighborhood services and public safety.
