Farmers' Market to Open in Clairemont

No one can deny the health benefits of including more fruits and vegetables in your diet and most would also agree that organic produce is better for you too.  Soon Clairemont residents will have a great opportunity to incorporate more organic produce in their diet when Brian Beevers, owner of Brian's Farmers' Markets opens his 5th market right in the middle of Clairemont.

The market's Grand Opening will be Tuesday May 27th and it will be open every Tuesday thereafter from 3-7pm. The market will be in the parking lot of Clairemont Lutheran Church, 4271 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., across from Clairemont Square. Beevers, whose other markets are in UTC, Golden Hill, The Headquarters and Pt. Loma, has been seeking a location for a Clairemont market for years.  "I've received so many e mails from folks in Clairemont over the years asking for a market here, so I 'm excited to have finally found a great spot here," he said.

Because of his successful markets, Beevers has relationships with many local growers, so there will be an abundant choice of fruits and veggies to choose from. And in case you think the market is nothing but produce, there will also be prepared food available to munch on while you shop-- crepes anyone?

Along with the produce and gourmet food items will be a few local artisans selling their wares, such as natural soaps, handmade cards and more.

The new Clairemont Farmers' Market will also offer a multi-farm CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. When you subscribe to the CSA program you get a basket of fresh seasonal produce all packed and ready for you to pick up at the market each week.  It's a great way to try different fruits and vegetables, as the baskets are filled with whatever is in season, maybe things you might not think to buy. The baskets come in 2 sizes and if you subscribe to the program by June 2, 2014 you will get $20 in free Market Bucks which are accepted by all vendors in the market. Click here to subscribe for a large or small CSA basket.

Shopping at the market is convenient too because you can pay with EBT, Visa, MasterCard, WIC, Brian's Farmers' Market Bucks and of course cash.
