Large Size Clothing Drive In July for "My Girlfriend's Closet"

During the month of July, Curves Fitness and Weight Loss Centers in San Diego County and Spa Gregories Day Spa and Salon will be co-sponsoring a collection drive for large size clothing for My Girlfriend’s Closet.

My Girlfriend’s Closet (MGC) is a local non-profit organization that collects and distributes gently used clothing, shoes and accessories to foster, homeless and underprivileged girls and young women, ages 13-22. MGC is especially in need of large (teen sizes 11 and 13, and women’s size 12 and up) and plus size clothing, for the next distribution event on August 10, 2014.

“About one-third of our shoppers are plus-size and we need to make sure we can accommodate them,” states Laney Moss, Co-Director of Operations and a high school student herself. “We want all girls who come to our event to find an abundance of clothing so that they can shop with pride.” My Girlfriend’s Closet was founded in 2005 with an all-volunteer mother-daughter Board of Directors, and operates with more than 250 community volunteers.

Anyone who makes a clothing donation will receive a free ticket to The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club’s Ladies (and Gents) Day at the Races which takes place in August. Gently worn clothing, shoes and accessories are accepted.
