Senior Resource Center August Programs

The Senior Resource Center at Sharp Memorial Hospital offers FREE health education and screening programs for seniors and their families each month. You do not need to be a SHARP patient or have SHARP insurance; all are open to the public. FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS
Sharp Senior Resource Center’s Registered Nurse offers free blood pressure checks. No appointments necessary. Public welcome.  War Memorial Building, 3325 Zoo Dr., San Diego, Monday, August 11, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

HICAP INSURANCE COUNSELING
Receive free information about Medicare, HMO’s supplement insurance or long-term care insurance from trained volunteer counselors of HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program). ADDRESSING BEHAVIOR THROUGH COMPASSIONATE COMMUNICATION

LOW BACK PAIN
Do you experience intermittent or chronic low back pain or stiffness due to osteoarthritis or another reason? Sharp Rehabilitation outpatient orthopedics therapists will discuss self-treatment strategies that may help ease or prevent low back pain. Discussion will include instruction on proper posture and body mechanics, therapeutic exercises and use of heat or ice.
