Local Artists Win Awards in Digital Art Show

First Prize: "He's Still Working on Me"
by Ron Hilley
The theme of  St. Mark’s Digital Photo and Digital Art Show this year is “Wonder of Creation“.  Creation – that’s nature scenes right?  Yes, and so much more.  What about children?  Persons creating music or art?  What else does creation look like ?

The show will run October 12-November 9, 2014 in the church sanctuary, 3502 Clairemont Drive. There are 27 works by 16 artists.  It is open for free public viewing 10am-4pm on 4 Saturdays: October 18th and 25th, November 1st and 8th. To see the show outside these hours call the church office, 858-273-1480.
3rd Prize: "Hands that Shape the Future."
by Kris Nieder
Artworks submitted to the show at the church, 3502 Clairemont Drive, were judged by Juror Randall Cornish, who teaches at the San Diego Community College Continuing Education Center on Aero Drive.  Mr. Cornish selected the three best works for cash prizes of $125,$100, and $75.

Winners from Clairemont were second place, Jill Rowe; third place, Kris Nieder; and Honorable Mention, Kris Hodson-Moore.  The first place winner, Ron Hilley, lives in Hillcrest, but he is a bass in the St. Mark's choir.

Other Honorable Mentions were Charlie Anne Breese, Chula Vista; Renata Spiazzi, La Jolla; and John Valois, Uptown.

The Awards Ceremony and Reception will be on Saturday, October 18, at 1pm.
