N. Clairemont Library October Events and Classes

From Eileen Hauser, Branch Manager, North Clairemont Branch Library, 4616 Clairemont Drive, comes a list of the great events in October at your local public library. There's something FREE for all ages and interests at the library!

First Tuesday Concerts: ZZymzzy Quartet
Tuesday, October 7 @6:30pm. The guys from the Zzymzzy Quartet just want to play it like it was ...unamplified, melodic, swinging, dreamy, and full of sly surprise. From the Prohibition through the Second Big War, the glory days of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington are recaptured with humor by four musicians who know it don’t mean a thing without that swing!

Classes for School Age Children:
Challenge Island Science Classes: October 8th, October 13th, October 29th at 4pm. What do you get when you mix hands-on science and engineering with fun arts and crafts? A class that promotes creative and critical thinking skills. Sign up. Ages 9+

Homework Help: Wednesdays 6:30-8pm Does your student need help with reading or homework? Drop in to our free homework help sessions. Grades K-8.

Halloween Craft: Wednesday, October 22nd @ 4pm. Create a frightful mask to complete your costume and enjoy some sweet treats too!

Ongoing Storytime Classes for Children:
Sign-A-Story Circle Time Mondays @ 10 am Join us for a super-fun performance that combines American Sign Language with songs, stories, and engaging toys and props! Suitable for babies &

Tiny Tot Rhythm & Rhymes ; Tuesdays @12:45pm A special class for babies and toddlers with children's songs, movement, beat activities, nursery rhymes instruments, and books. For tots ages 2 and under.

Toddler & Preschool Storytime Class; Fridays @10:30am A fun interactive storytime including books, songs, rhymes, movement & bubble time with Miss Karina! For ages 2+

Sign Language Storytime ; Saturdays October 4 &18 @11:30 am Ms. Jennifer uses the fun of signing to enhance the reading of well-loved children's picture books, sing-alongs and bubble time. For newborns to age four.

Tales for Tails ; Thursday, October 9 @ 4pm. Children practice reading to rabbits, guinea pigs, mice or dogs. Animals listen quietly because they LOVE to hear children reading to them. Ages 4+.

Reuben H. Fleet Science Class: Friday, October 24 @3pm Discover how fun science can be! Experience a spinning vortex, dry ice, inertia and momentum, chemical reactions and hair-raising electricity!

 Adult Classes and Programs
NC Book Club:Wednesday, October 8 @6:30 pm. Do you enjoy discussing books? In partnership with MTS, We are hosting our first “Read and Ride” book club meeting at 6:30 pm. Read Maya’s Notebook by Isabel Allende and join the lively discussion. Refreshments will be served.

Build a Terrarium: Wednesday, October 15th at 3pm Learn about Tillandsia (airplants) during this free and fun workshop. Sign up.
