Fiesta Island Dog Owners, better known as FIDO, is asking local dog owners to help them keep the Fiesta Island fenced, off-leash dog park a better place for all dogs and their owners.
Their mission is to permanently establish and befriend the 90-acre fenced, off-leash exercise area on Fiesta Island, Mission Bay Park. Among the ways they do that is regularly scheduled cleanup events, like the one coming up this Sunday, June 28th, 2015 from 9:30 - 10:45am. FIDO sponsors three clean-ups each year with assistance from I Love a Clean San Diego. This is a key program for our ongoing stewardship, and is, unfortunately, always needed.
You can help! Bring your own picker-uppers if you have them. Make sure to sign-in at the tables so FIDO has a record of who helped. Helpers will be able to get sample treats for your pooches from Primal and Stella & Chewy's.Yes, you can bring your dog/s.
And while you’re there, get ready for the upcoming single-use plastic bag ban! We have new reusable bags with the FIDO logo available for a $2 donation and a $20 donations gets you a FIDO t-shirt.
Feel lucky? There will be a raffle at the end of the clean-up and each helper gets one free raffle ticket.
The raffle will take place at 10:50am and you must be present to win. Additional tickets are only a $1 donation. FIDO is a 501(c)3 non-profit California Corporation. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You may donate online at our website via PayPal.
THANKS to all who are able to come and help pick-up after others who do not have the courtesy to follow the rules.
Report Poopers!
If you've read this far, you're probably not one of the folks who aren't diligent about picking up after their dogs. Accidents happen, but FIDO has fielded several complaints recently about folks either violating the six dog limit or not paying enough attention to their "flocks." One FIDO member had a recent success by reporting violations to Park Rangers.
Call: 858-581-7602 to report incidents. They cannot always respond quickly, but FIDO thinks it's important to make the City more aware that there are problems that merit enforcement.
We do not recommend trying to enforce the rules yourself. If you can identify a professional dog walker violating the rules, please either call the phone number and/or email in the information to us. We plan to build a case for enough enforcement to have persistent violators clean up their act.
