In Rhythms Yoga: Yoga Journal Live Conference

The Hotel del Coronado hosted Yoga Journal Live! Conference this past weekend, June 25th-29th, with workshops completing today. The annual conference happens five times a year in San Diego, San Francisco, Estes Park, Florida and New York.

The monumental yoga event is a great opportunity for all level students, yoga teachers and health enthusiasts to attend. This year in San Diego, there were thirty master yoga teachers who taught classes and workshops including these well known teachers: Seane Corn, Jason Crandell, Kino MacGregor, Vinnie Marino, Sadie Nardini, Gary Kraftsow, Rolf Gates, Tiffany Cruikshank, Kathryn Budig and more.

This years' event focused on honoring veterans that have served our country, and as a result, are dealing with physical injury, emotional trauma, and spiritual questions. Yoga and meditation are used as tools for warriors to heal with physical activity, awareness of the body and the breath, and aid in overall spiritual healing.

On the Windsor Lawn on Sunday, more than 600 yoga mats were  placed on the lawn in preparation for a master class led by a former war correspondent and master teacher, Bhava Ram. He led a touching 90 minute class with live music from Steve Gold and J.J. Brown. Each of the mats were “sponsored” by people, businesses, studios, service group and others that helped raise money for the more than 200,000 veterans battling PTSD. Yoga Journal partnered with Warriors For Healing, W4H, along with The Give Back Yoga Foundation, Deep Yoga School of Healing Arts, Active Interest Media and Connected Warriors in giving back to veterans with the powerful healing effects of yoga.

During the four day event, attendants could register for the main weekend events, a one-day class pass, a single class pass or for the full-event. Workshops and classes included a variety of classes including: yoga focused on specific parts of the body,  adjustments, sun salutations, chakras, therapeutic yoga, yoga to manage chronic pain, meditation, acroyoga, boot camp yoga, athletic yoga, wave-rider yoga, Stand-up-paddle yoga, family and kids yoga, a yoga fashion show with live DJ music, building the business of yoga, and more.

The yoga marketplace was free to attend and open to the public, open Friday-Sunday. Attendants could visit anytime during the hours of operation in order to take pictures at the photo booth, watch flying and acroyoga demonstrations, and browse and purchase from the many vendors and partners of the event. Vendors included yoga apparel, jewelry, services, media, nutrition, yoga mats and accessories, retreats, local studios, natural health, beauty and more.

The next Yoga Journal Live! Conference is scheduled in Colorado, Sept. 27th-Oct. 4th, 2015. To learn more about Yoga Journal Live! events, visit their website, http://www.yjevents.com.

Check with your doctor before performing any form of exercise including yoga and breathing techniques. Always honor your body. If a posture gives you pain, gently come out.
