Clairemont High Baseball: Save the Date for Alumni Game!

The Clairemont High School Baseball program has announced the date of the CHS Baseball Alumni game: January 30, 2016  from 10:00am to 3:00pm, at CHS Ernie Beck Field, 4150 Ute Drive. Mark your calendar now for this always-fun game!

Clairemont High’s baseball program has gone through a cycle of changes and turned around for the better in 2015. Compared to a growing, inexperienced varsity team last year, the team this year had many experienced players and lots of up-and-coming underclassmen ready to maintain a strong program for the future.

The dedication of newly appointed head coach, Mike Peña, an Alumni of CHS, and the hard work put in by each player led to a successful season and created new standard on what it means to be a Chieftain baseball player.

The Chieftains finished out the year with a record of 11 wins and 16 losses, a fairly better performance than over last season’s record of 6 wins and 21 losses.

Peña said, “Overall this year was a success.  Being my first year in the program sometimes it’s hard to make a transition, but the fact that we made playoffs this year was definitely a positive.  We struggled this year finishing ball games and as a program are still learning how to consistently win games.  The players bought in this year and created a practice environment which required them to work hard and compete every day they were out there.  The next step will be to transfer this success over to the games.  I am very excited about the next few years for Clairemont High Baseball.”

The Clairemont baseball program looks be on the path of success, and in a few years, will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in CIF.
