St. Mark's Call for Entries in 53rd Annual Art Show

It was a simple idea.  Since church member Harriet Torrens (since deceased) had won first place in the 1963 Coronado Art Show, the church should showcase her work by organizing an art show around it.

The next year the show committee organized a juried show and invited artists from the community to enter.  Each year since then a show has been held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, usually during Lent.

Art will once again  cover the sanctuary walls at at St. Mark's United Methodist Church during the 53rd annual Religious Art Festival.

This all-media visual arts show on the theme of "In the Beginning" will run February 14-March 28. The juror is Professor Eugene Harris, Pt. Loma Nazarene University. Artists who wish to enter the show may obtain a registration form and a prospectus with complete details on entry fees and cash prizes at www.stmarksumcsd.org/church-events/art-shows or by calling the church office at 858-278-0255.

Art will be received at the church, 3502 Clairemont Drive, San Diego, on Friday, February 12, 5:30-7:30pm and Saturday, February 13, 9am-noon.  The Awards Ceremony will be Saturday, February 20, 1:30pm in the sanctuary.  A reception will follow in the social hall.

Free public viewing will be Saturdays 10am-4pm on February 20, 27, March 5, 12, 19, 26. Arrangements to see the show outside these hours may be made by calling the church office, 858-273-1480.
