Whether selling their designer clothing or choosing a unique party dress from the store's extensive collection, Cream of the Crop has been the best-dressed crowd's best-kept secret.
Sadly, May 31st will be the last day for the store after 27 years. Frega, who runs the store by herself, is ready to slow down and enjoy life and the building owner's desire to sell it was the catalyst for her decision to retire.
When asked how she got into the business, Cynthia said "I started out with a small shop at Cass and Loring, I was a treasure hunter and a 'digger' . At one point I had three shops and I carried furniture and men's clothing too. Eventually after I got married I closed the others down, one at a time and have just the ladies clothing and accessories here at Cass and Diamond. It has been a wonderful 27 yrs. but I am looking forward to retirement."
With 3,500 square feet of treasures and prices slashed it is a great time to visit Cream of the Crop. As Frega says, "I have a store chocked full of great clothes and accessories and will be selling props , decorative items ,fixtures ,cases, pictures etc.etc. I need some willing shoppers to come down and help me clear out! I will also be having a few furniture items too!"
The store is at 4683 Cass St. San Diego 92109 and it is open Tuesdays through Saturday from 12-5:30. Phone number is (858) 272 6601.
