Downward Dog at Petco: Yoga for Hope August 13th

The 6th annual Yoga for Hope event is scheduled for Saturday, August 13, at 7 am, at Petco Park, San Diego, CA.

Please join the San Diego yoga community in the largest outdoor yoga fundraiser in Southern California, benefiting the City of Hope.

“The City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. At the City of Hope, scientists work with doctors to treat both the physical and emotional needs of patients. By attending to the individual, not just the illness, life afterwards can be fuller and more rewarding. At City of Hope, we combine science with soul to make miracles every day.”

Yoga for Hope, since its inception, has raised over 200,000, towards research and integrative therapies towards life-threatening illnesses. The outdoor yoga experience, located on the field at Petco Park, will include: yoga, music, food, shopping, and inspiration. Yoga teachers: Seane Corn, Michael Fukumura, Stacy McCarthy, and Claire Petretti-Marti, will lead the event. Attending the event is a great way to honor someone you know who has been touched by cancer.

Yoga for Hope is a grassroots community event where yoga students and studios, come together for a day of raising awareness towards those dealing with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The City of Hope realizes the power of yoga towards healing and, and it offers yoga to their patients as a holistic modality towards the healing process and during treatment.

Yoga for Hope’s intention is to bring the yoga community together to help find a cure for cancer and support those affected by the illness. Experience the power of community and the power of unifying the breath and movement with hundreds of people towards this cause.

The City of Hope spends time on researching cutting-edge research including the holistic side of health, by studying cancer-fighting power, “super-foods”, like: mushrooms, pomegranates, grape seed extract, blueberries and cinnamon, that may actually slow the growth of tumors.

Supporting the City of Hope on a local level, adds to their global power. Many of the drugs discovered, have been successful towards finding a cure. The City of Hope is making change on a global scale.

Christi Iacono, In Rhythms Yoga, 500 hour., certified yoga teacher and Happy Back Yoga certified teacher.

Christi is a 500 hour certified yoga teacher, including Happy Back Yoga certification. Happy Back class focuses on spinal health, by building strength and mobility back into the spine. Christi and her husband, Kris, provide an intimate space in Clairemont, San Diego, called In Rhythms Yoga where they hold small group classes and private lessons. Christi is excited to share Healthy Back,Yoga Walls class with her clients and yoga community. The yoga walls class is a specialty class to create traction and space in the spine towards healing while reversing the aging process. 

Christi has practiced many different styles of yoga since the 1990’s, including vinyasa, hatha, Iyengar, Happy Back, and yin. Yoga has brought much joy, healing and inspiration to her life. She enjoys sharing her experience, passion, and dedication with her students. Christi believes that yoga is accessible to all.
