On Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., Councilmember Chris Cate, Clairemont residents, and Clairemont Town Council board members unveiled  a brand new entry sign for the community of Clairemont. The original sign was wrecked by a distracted driver.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the highest number of auto accidents occur during the month of August. Auto accidents are one of the leading causes of injury and death, injuring approximately three million persons and taking more than 40,000 lives each year. In California, car accidents are higher than the national average, due to the population and geographical size of the state.
"This community marker is a meaningful and vital asset that contributes to the overall identity and symbolic sense of community to all Clairemont residents and I am pleased to see its restoration," said Councilmember Chris Cate. Clairemont is a community within the City of San Diego which has a population of about 81,600 residents and is one of the largest neighborhoods in District 6.

"Over the better part of a year, our Town Council has worked with Councilmember Chris Cate and his office to navigate the City's permitting and building process to replace our entrance sign. The entrance sign welcomes residents and visitors to our vibrant and diverse community," stated Ryan Trabuco, Clairemont Town Council President.
