38 million neighbors in 16,000 communities are expected to participate in National Night Out. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that marries police and public safety while providing a platform for neighborhood camaraderie.
Clairemont Neighborhood Watch block captains and San Diego Police Officers will be on-hand for the duration of the evening answering questions and registering interested individuals to start their own Neighborhood Watch program.
Several incidents ranging from burglaries to shootings have recently occurred in the neighborhood of Clairemont. “Neighborhood Watch programs are one of the most effective crime prevention programs in the nation. Working in concert with the Clairemont Town Council, we have established more than 50 Neighborhood Watch programs and installed 100 Neighborhood Watch signs,” stated Councilmember Chris Cate.
“Strong and active neighborhood watch programs and fostering positive relationships of mutual respect with our police officers and members of the Clairemont community is an excellent way to reduce crime and make our Clairemont neighborhood safer,” said Councilmember Lorie Zapf.
