Mike Aguirrie and the Unsettled the Establishment

Did City Attorney Mike Aguirre doom his career as City Attorney when he
implied that San Diego's favorite daughter, Susan Golding, might have
been responsible for the underfunding of the city retirement system. As
has happened in the past, putting responsibility on the former mayor
for the current problems of the City can be detrimental to ones
aspirations

Question? Why did the San Diego Union use a quote from former City
Manager Jack McGrory in the bancruptcy article of Sunday, April.
Wasn't is the McGrory Golding administration that created the problem?

Question? Why are all the players in the crisis either distancing
themselves from their previous bosses or blaming the city manager?

Clairemont Education: Passing the Test by Colleen McNatt

The letter was dated Dec. 11, 2003, but it came home in my daughter's backpack after the holiday break. It simply stated how my child fared on a test given earlier this school year to identify second-graders for the San Diego City Schools Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program. If the child receives a high score, they are eligible to participate in GATE classes as a third-grader. Children scoring even higher than what is considered at GATE level qualify for another program, called Seminar. Read more.....

Where's the Report on Teacher Housing?

Remember these comments from the San Diego Union, 9-22-03.

District planners say there is much work to be done before a proposal on teacher housing goes before the board. In the next two weeks, consultants will tabulate the 2,000 surveys completed by teachers..... The 29-question poll asked a range of questions about whether teachers like their current living situation and whether they would be interested in district-owned housing.

I wonder when and how this information will be presented. Of course the election to replace retiring Fran Zimmerman, will bring new ideas and opinions from the candidates.
we should expect, and deserve, dialogue on these issues.

Mission Bay Golf Course. Here's the Official Story.....

Mission Bay Golf Course and Driving Range
2702 North Mission Bay Drive
Reservations (858) 581-7880

Designed by Ted Robinson, former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the course was developed under a fifty-year ground lease first executed in July 1954. The City's long-term lease with De Anza Harbor Resort and Golf, LLC, expired on July 6, 2001 and has been operating on a month-to-month lease since that time. The last time the City took on golf property was in 1957 when it opened Torrey Pines Golf Complex as a municipal course.

The City has made the commitment to keep the green fees at the course and driving range at their current cost of $19.00 on a weekday and $23.00 on a weekend, until next summer when those prices will be evaluated along with other park and recreation related fees. Hours of operation will be 6:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday. The on site restaurant Victors closed, and the City's Real Estate Assets Department is evaluating the site.

Mission Bay Golf Course Fees - Effective November 7, 2003

The Mission Bay Golf Course and Driving Range has been a long time favorite golf course for locals. It is where Tiger Woods won a Junior World title and where one can still golf next to Phil Mickelson on occasion. An estimated 100,000 rounds of golf are played at Mission Bay each year.

Directions
Take I-5 to the Clairemont Drive exit, go West to Mission Bay Drive. Head north along the bay to the De Anza Cove and the Golf Course entrance will be on the right.
